Mike & Jan Chard’s Place – Custer, South Dakota – July 27th thru August 3rd, 2017

Well Mike Chard said, “Hey if you’re driving across the USA you have to stop in Custer, We have this small place”…… So we saw a sign that said Custer South Dakota and off we went.

Driving up to Mike’s Place. Noooooo not just yet. This is where mike grew up as a Kid. Newcastle, Wyoming. We actually were just turning around here to get the next photo shot. This could be where he lived, we honestly had no idea, he said he rough necked as a young man on Oil Wells. You can see the oil pumps on the property on the left.  Probably not his place though.

We were there Mike, not once but twice because we had to go back.

When we asked around people said this might be the only building left in Newcastle from when you were a kid Mike, So we drove back to the store and took a photo of it again, but a bigger photo of the 4 Way Gas N Go. We were here once already for the 16 East Custer SD sign photo. 

So we got Lost on Mike’s Property looking for the House Hauling a 40 ft 5th wheel. Yes this is a Photo on the Property.

So as you can see, Mike’s place is actually a little slice of Heaven where we set up. Now the small house on the property is just out of the photo to the left. Think I was going to include a photo that showed a road and a house. Nooo much more fun to show the pasture, horses and deer in the Background. This property had 7 Deer that roamed around every morning and evening. Thank you Mike we truly loved staying there and would have  stayed longer except for the next Photo.

This is Downtown Custer, which is 60 miles from Sturgis, 2 days before the start of the Bike Rally there. The Roads became crazy congested with all kinds of people. Everyone was nice but we could see that it was even going to get crazier there.

Cody, Mike and Jan Chard’s kid was living and working on the property we parked on. We traveled, ate, and saw a bit of South Dakota with him and enjoyed our Time with him. Thank you Mike for letting us hang out at your place, and Cody for entertaining us.

Ohhh one last photo. This is Sylvan Lake just a few minutes up the road from Mike’s place. Stunning at Sunset for us. Where we are suppose to have Hot Dogs and go diving according to Mike, But Will says it is the Caribbean and Lobster. Sorry old inside joke.
