The 2nd visit to Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming – July 17th, 2017

So this is a photo on the way from Cody, Wy into Yellowstone. There are quite a lot of different rock features as you go through the Park…………….

Staci just loved this rock formation and pointed it out every time we drove into the park

It is not very clear, but that is a Grizzly Bear just off the Road. We should have gotten the photo of the Ranger’s, not one but quite a few, with their weapons drawn ready to use saying ” Just a Grizzly Bear, now mosey on so you don’t upset him.”

Had to see Old Faithful. You see all the people right. Well this parking lot is like a football stadium in size. We rolled in and said “Oh My look at this crazy scene”. People were taking breaks and resting halfway thru the parking lot walk it was so big. We both said let’s just try and drive as close as we can to it, get a shot and move on. Well as luck would have it, just a few spots from this photo a parking place opened up. I told Staci if we can’t be the closest parking spot to Old Faithful we should leave. She told me 3 spots from it was a winner and she was getting out. We took the spot and got some great videos of it.

Shot of the Grand Prismatic Pool. Notice the wild color changes. This is what they always show from the air when they talk about Yellowstone National Park. It was amazing up close. Yes Staci wanted to touch it but at some God awful water boiling temperature, she relented and said okay no touching. I think the skeletons of animals lying around had a bigger impact than the sign “Danger boiling Water” for her.

There are two major waterfalls in the Park. Creatively called Upper and Lower falls. Yes that was sarcasm for those of you who missed it. Neither is in the photo by the way.  All these wild names for things in the park and this was the best they could do for the falls. They run thru, wait for it, wait,  The Yellowstone Canyon. You do have to go on the Upper and Lower waterfall road to see the Canyon and we almost didn’t. Wow that would have been a mistake. Take the time to park your vehicle and walk around for an hour and see some amazing sites. Notice the color of rock, Yellow, hence Yellowstone. I think the guy who was naming things was at the end of his day, his buddy saying come on hurry up give me a name. Yellow yea that’s it, wait what if we add rock to it. Yellowrock, no that doesn’t sing to me. How about using the word Stone.  Yellowstone, Perfect now let’s go get a beer.

More Big Horn sheep checking us out as we drove thru the park

Why this photo, well if you look close at the photo and the light brown patches next to the Buffalo, those are actually baby buffalo. There was an amazing amount of them and we did not get all of them in this shot. So now we are at the North end of the Park and ready to head out on the Chief Joseph Scenic By-way. Yellowstone trully lived up to it’s name. Note yellow, Yellowstone, did you not read the previous photo in this post. This is really funny stuff or maybe writing in the middle of the night with no sleep makes it funny. No I’m convinced it is funny!!! Good Night.
