San Juan Islands and Ferry Ride, Washington – June 22nd 2017

This is a Photo of us on the Ferry with one of the small Islands in the Background. I can not tell you how cool the San Juan Island ferries are. These boats are not small, yet you will be amazed at how close to shore they come when they travel between some Islands. We were so mesmerized we did not get a photo. Mental photo for us, for you a reason to come do this yourself. Now to be fair at one point there was 6 or 7 of the ferry staff old and young standing next to the window taking photo’s. I asked what are you guys and girls taking photo’s of. They all turned and said they had never seen all the Mountain peaks visible before. Turns out that on that trip it was considered off the Chart Clear. An Old ferry guy was stating he was not sure the last time it had been that Beautiful. So we might have been jaded in how good the trip on the ferry was.

You ask how big are the Ferry boats? This is a shot of the inside from side to side not length wise. So not small would be the correct answer.

While traveling on one of the legs of our trip. You get to visit 5 islands and get off and on if you wish. We rode in the truck just to experience that feeling and Our GPS showed us this. Our truck on the Ferry route in the middle of the Ocean. Cool huh that it still worked.

I think this is where you get off in the quaint Friday Harbor landing. I think you could take your vehicle or not and have different experiences, but both would be unique and fun.

Driving By one of the inland lakes on Orca Island and could not believe how close to lake level the road was, so asked Staci to get a photo and I think you can see it really was only a foot below the road level here. Really amazing feeling driving on that.

This is from the Highest point in the San Juan Islands and worth the Trip as you can see all the islands and where you have been or are going to travel. You do need a vehicle to reach this point. Side note: Our Truck just made the cut off on length to drive up here and I think they were being generous with letting us go. It was a super narrow, 1 lane and blind hairpin turns in many places. So we got the bonus of a roller coaster ride to this point. Although at the time I would definitely have traded it for a bigger road. I think we are laughing, because we just cheated Death again. Staci will know what Mountain Peak is in the Background for those of you wondering. Ohh almost forgot, with our Binoculars we could see where we were staying over 50 miles away. As they said really, really, really clear on this Day

While on Orca Island I think we ate at this restaurant that had a fantastic view of a small harbor. We remarked wonder what the working people are doing because there was only one other person in the restaurant with us. Nooo the food was not terrible, it was as fantastic as the view. We have no idea, why no one else was there. True gem and if we go back to the San Juan Islands we will definitely go there again. Of course I have no idea what Bay or what the Restaurant is named, Come on people, Have you just been looking at the photos and not reading my stories.

From outside to the side of the unknown Restaurant looking at the unknown Bay, but gorgeous huh!! Notice no one else around as well. Peaceful was a word we used all throughout the San Juan Islands.

Staci would be upset if I did not include her Beautiful photo of I have no idea Mountain Peak. Here it is Baby. I think she will add the name for those of you who have to know. I am comfortable in that it is just an amazing shot of what we were looking out at.
